Hello every one, and happy women’s day!

My name is Sargol ahmad. I’m the coordinator of the women liberation organization in iraq.

First I would like to congratulate you for march 8 , the international women’s day ; and ( the  Iranian political prisoners committee) for inviting me to speak here.
We all know, that, the terrible disaster has happened to humanity, and how most of their victims are women and children. because of the new world Order, democracy, and postmodernism.

The status of Iraqi women at the beginning of the 21st century is affected by many factors. such as,  wars, sectarian religious conflict, debates concerning Islamic law , cultural ethnic, and Iraqi constitution.
In Iraq, and in Kurdistan region women have been turned into victims of wars, one after another, especially the war of US which was a case bringing tens of religious and nationalist groups. The war, killing, kidnappings and ethnic and sectarian conflicts have caused the loos of rights, the spread of unemployment, poverty. and deprivation of education.

In recent years, after they create ISIS, we all saw the   brutality of ISIS, how they committed violence against human society and especially women and children.

 Women become the first victim in this war they selling them as sex slave. massacred dozens of Iraqi women, Enslaved thousands of Yazidi women, and many of them are still missing today.
In Iraqi Kurdistan, women have been insulted, murdered and violated under the rule of nationalist Parties, just because they demand their basic rights. This is exactly what happened unfortunately to thousands of girls and women.

Many books documented the horrific crimes against women in Iraqi Kurdistan under the nationalist parties.
in most of the cases the women who demand work, face sexual harassment by the officials. According to the study done by Dr Younis Othman, 435 women and girls have been exposed to sexual harassment, this number was in 2007 of course the numbers has been increased. 

Another horrific fact is more than thousands of women had been killed during the past few years. thousands of them had burnt themselves to death (committed Suicide) under the name of the domestic violence.

 
 Today, there is many Iraqi women imprisoned, because of the different issues some of them with their children, and some face risk of execution.

 If we are looking at the situation of the women from middle east living in the west, we can see millions of women are now under the threat of discrimination and sexual abuse. And because of Multiculturalism which is a western culture perspective right- wing and anti-human view) this is happen under the name of (free thought) or respect others. the way was paved to pass the most reactionary laws and practices especially for political Islam. For example, in the west countries they allowed to build and open more mosques in all the civilized Western cities while the Islamists are pushing more children to those religious schools and mosques. Under multiculturalism. They allow husbands, brothers, and fathers to kill the women and girls for the so- called honor.

If you could visit the Hospitals of city of Howler in Iraqi Kurdistan, there is the death bodies of women and their family didn’t want to take care of them because of honor killing.

The Iraqi civil law, which was passed in 1959, according to the law oppressive forces of the ba’ath party in the middle and southern cities of Iraq, in 1998 had beheaded over 200 women bodies and their heads were hung infant of their houses for many days. Yes this. This is barbaric law. That civil law is based on Islamic sharia law.

 The same law that is practiced today in Kurdistan after making a few changes and then passed by parliament and the government which is called (the civil law in Iraqi Kurdistan).  states that men are permitted to marry more than one woman and made it legal to enslave women in a complete patriarchal society with same excuses. for example, if the wife has serious illness and can not provide everything for her husband. and the men had to have a good salary to feed them equally.
 We have all witnessed in the heart of Europe, the US and Canada the killing of women at the hands of their family’s member under the pretext of honor killing. There are many examples, Afan Najmadin, the mother of Four children was living in the UK and was murdered by her husband in 2018. In Canada Aqsa parvis, she was in grade 11, was murdered by her father, because she wanted to take off her Hijab and wear modern clothes like many children in her age, Same tragedy and crimes are committed in many other countries.

  This so-called multiculturalism in the west is a reactionary law and statement allowing Islamists and women haters to inject the laws of Islamic Sharia within the secular laws of those countries. in 2003 the Islamists were trying to establish sharia court in Canada. They tried hard to achieve that goal but fortunately, through the activities of communists and secularists their attempt was defeated. They failed to establish the Islamic court because we stood-up together against it.

We are as the organization of women liberation of Iraq   struggling against the harassment and intimidation, while we work to promote improvement to women’s status in the law, in education, the workplace, we are fighting against this barbaric civil law of Iraq which is based on discrimination against women in all aspects, and many other spheres of Iraqi life. And to cultural abusive, traditional practices such as honor killing and forced marriages.

I am certain that,  we, the secularist and communist front, if we stand together, we will able to achieve peace, equality, and freedom, and end suppression against women and the people in general.
