The Speech of Issam Shukri in the 5th. Congress of the Worker-communist Party of Iran - WPI

Good morning comrades. I apologize, (as) I’ll be speaking in English. The only thing I know in Farsi is Khosh Amadid (Laughter). I’ve been trying to learn Farsi for the last 7 years unsuccessfully. I am going to take it very seriously this time.

My warmest greetings to this great congress. I am proud to be here. I congratulate all of you and the leading committee of the congress, for this successful, uplifting congress. We are here, my comrades, to make a decision. We are here to show a stance, and we’ve made it, me and my comrades. We came here to say that we support you. We are with you. (applause). The people and workers of Iraq have always looked up to the Worker-communist Party of Iran as the leader and the banner holder of Mansoor Hekmat’s communism (applause).Details..

Public Declaration

The Formation of “Left Fraction” in the Worker-Communist Party of Iraq (WCPI)

“The publication of this declaration aims at publicising our political position and views regarding the split in the Worker-communist Party of Iran (WPI) and making it available to the public. This does not mean in any way that we are outside of the WCPI. We assert our persistence and adherence to the unity of the Worker Communist Party of Iraq.” Details..

In Response to the Head of the Politburo of the Worker-communist Party of Iraq

Azar Majedi

 Dear comrade Amjad Gafour

In your letter of September 1, 2004 and the Communiqué of the Politburo of the Worker Communist Party of Iraq, you have accused the leadership of the Worker-communist Party of Iran of ‘dangerous, unprincipled and irresponsible methods’ in addressing the members and cadres of the Worker Communist Party of Iraq to rebel against the leadership of the party and undermine the party discipline and therefore violate the ‘organisational principal of the Mansour Hekmat’. These are unfounded accusations.  Details..

Mansoor Hekmat has won again!

Letter to members and activists of the Worker-communist Party in Iran

By Hamid Taqvaee

Dear Comrades:

You have certainly heard about the split in the Worker-communist Party of Iran (WPI) by now. No doubt this has come as a surprise and made you anxious. There has been a split in a party that only recently in its magnificent congress welcomed the revolution in Iran and put the leadership and organisation of that revolution on its agenda; a party that in its last central committee plenum worked out the organisation of the revolution in the form of clear and comprehensive guidelines, paving the way for left activists to come forward; a party that with its New Channel TV has drawn the gaze of millions of people to itself. Why have people left such a party? What has happened?   Details..

A reply to Rebwar Ahmad’s open letter dated 27 August 2004

By Hamid Taghvaee

Comrade Rebwar, Leader of Worker Communist Party of Iraq,

Your reply to my first open letter convinced me even further that your party's politburo stance on the split within our party was hasty and a mistake. In your letter, you have based all your dissatisfaction on my online-internal conference in which I did not accept the proposed plenum to take place. I have responded to this in the International paper. Suffice it to say that convening or not convening the plenum or the congress, and my decision being unconstitutional or not was not the reason for the split. Details..

Our Main Differences, The Defeat of the Right in and their split from the Worker-communist Party of Iran

Azar Majedi and Ali Javadi

After the passing away of Mansoor Hekmat, the late leader of the worker-communist party and movement, sharp political differences began to arise within the leadership of the Worker-communist Party of Iran (WPI) developing into a Right-wing bloc, primarily consisting of the ranks of the WPI’s Kurdistan Committee around the policies and views of Koorosh Modaresi. When these internal debates were made available to the cadres, this bloc decided to leave the Party. Instead of remaining within the ranks of the Worker-communist Party and continuing their struggle in the framework of a communist and radical programme and policies, they decided to leave and separate their path from that of worker-communism. On Koorosh Modaresi's text

By Workers' Liberty

The issues are still not clear to us. We do not know what clarifications and developments Koorosh Modaresi and his comrades may have made over the last two years, since he wrote the document now translated.
Sections of the document certainly give some colour to the WPI's charge that Koorosh Modaresi has veered away from independent working-class politics towards bourgeois political manoeuvring.

WPI’s 5th Congress was a Huge Success

WPIran

The 5th Congress of the Worker-communist Party of Iran (WPI) was held during 18 to 19 September 2004. This was an extraordinary congress, formed to bring to fruition political differences and debates within the party. This congress was the largest WPI congress; more than 400 people participated and a further 200 members unable to attend backed the congress with their messages and greetings.  Details..

Translation of Koorosh Modaresi’s Letter to the Executive Committee of the Worker-communist Party of Iran:Collapse of Islamic Republic and the Role of the Worker-communist Party of Iran (WPIran)

I have written these points for discussion in the Executive Committee.  Naturally, they have been formulated with this audience in mind.  In my view, they reflect the discussion in the plenum.  Perhaps at the plenum, I could not present a coherent debate.  But, this is an effort to articulate my discussion.  I hope we will have a good discussion in the Executive Committee.  Details..
